Introduction
CHALLENGE
This application was for GTAW Automatic Welding a very high cost / highly proprietary device made of Inconel. The quality standard called for making perfect welds X-ray clear Pressure Vessel Welds. Some of the welds were better made vertical and other horizontal, due to visibility and gravies effect on the weld pool.
SOLUTION
Weldlogic Engineering took one of our PWL-15-36 Precision Welding Lathes and designed a motor driven jack screw and pivot to enable tilting the lathe. The motor driven lathe Tilt control enables the weld to be made in the absolute ideal position. This feature took a Horizontal lathe and made it an easy push button Horizontal/Vertical lathe.
This system consisted of:
- AWS-400 Ampere Power Supply and Controller
- 12” Color HMI for Programming and System Operation
- Arc Voltage Control
- Cold Wire Feeder
- PWL-15-36 Horizontal / Vertical lathe
- Motorized Tilt & Pivot
- Work Sation table with .750” tool plate tabletop
