Introduction


CHALLENGE

Design a micro-TIG welding lathe capable of producing hermetic welds for critical medical devices while maintaining low heat input.

The system needed to achieve repeatability better than +1%, while eliminating scrap caused by inconsistent electrode placement and setup errors.

Additionally, the goal was to reduce operator skill requirements, replacing reliance on highly skilled welders with a system that enables simple, repeatable operation and faster training.

SOLUTION

Weldlogic Engineering integrated the proven PA-10-100 Micro-TIG power supply with a specialized DC arc starter into the AWS-PA-10-100 Advanced Welding System controller, creating a fully automated, precision welding solution.

The AWS platform provides an intuitive HMI for programming, storing, and recalling weld recipes, ensuring consistent, repeatable results.

Key features include Arc Distance Control (ADC) for automatic tungsten gap positioning, AC servo-driven motion for precise speed and positioning, and dual gas controls with sensors to ensure proper shielding on every weld.

Additional capabilities such as password-protected programs, USB data storage, and a high-definition camera system further enhance process control, reduce operator dependency, and deliver consistent hermetic weld quality for critical medical applications.
