Introduction
Challenge
To design and build a special 3-roll to enable delicate honeycomb structures to be formed with virtually no flats and not crush the foil structure more than .005″ while forming a perfect radius cylindrical segment.
The roll needed to be able to form from .500″ – 3.00″ thick and up to 60″ wide and meet very strict tolerances.
Solution
Weldlogic Engineering selected our Specialized 3-Roll C.N.C. to offer the customer infinite rolling options in one machine to meet all there specific forming goals.
By rescaling the positioning resolution in the hardware and software delicate structures could be formed without deformation. With selectable diameter top and bottom roll diameters and placement the near flat less forming was possible.
